Times have changed. This recession as they call it, yea right! How about depression, has put a hurting on the sex industry. Oh yes, I said the “sex” word. For those of you who are still in denial, about 90% of escorts are sex workers. Is it all about sex? NO but don’t think for a second some guy is going to pay you just to go to dinner.  That is a fantasy often created by those of us who don’t want to accept the truth of what we really are. So to further our denial we come up with pretty words like “Escort” and “Social Companion”. Let me be clear, for those of us at the middle to high end of the business, we are also paid for our time and companionship.

There are many women who are now wanting to become escorts, so much so, the market is getting a bit flooded right now. If you’re thinking of doing this because your mortgage or car payment is due next week and you need immediate cash, I hate to tell you but in many cases it’s not going to happen. You needed to have begun the day after you were laid off months ago. At the higher end of the business it’s all about marketing and what you as a product have to offer. I’ll come back to this later.

This business has many different levels (read about it here) the lower the level the higher the risk. Depending upon where you live, yellow pages operations have twice to four times the volume unlike a web based agency or independent. Usually they don’t adequately screen and will do business with any guy with cash in his pocket. This also means they’ll do business with people some higher end agencies wouldn’t touch.

We all would like to think we’re worth a $1,000.00 an hour but the truth is 98% of us are not. Many women come into this business thinking some guy is going to pay that (especially you models please GET a LIFE!) and quickly find out the hard cold truth. Keep dreaming. If you want a shot at that kind of money in this business you need to move to Manhattan, Los Angles or Miami. By the way, if you do find a guy who willing pay that, go for it. However, I must warn you, chances are it’s just luck. I wish you good luck in replicating it. If you can get him to do it every week for a month or every month for at least 6 months then you’re on to something. Otherwise, it’s what is called a fluke and you can’t constantly pay your bills on flukes! Then there is the issue of $1,000.00 the first time, then he only pays you $700 the next and then $300 and so on.  Meanwhile, your best friend who went to work for the agency or is an independent has probably out earned you when you add it all up over the same amount of time. I can’t tell you how many women have fallen for this flash in the pan technique. Especially those of you who frequent sugardaddy sites, which has nothing to do with the escort business.  Getting paid less and less money for the same amount of time. Then Mr. Sweetness and light turns into Mr Jealous possessive control freak who wants to be your boyfriend and “save you”. By the way, when you say “no” be prepared for things to get really ugly.

In today’s world it’s all about marketing and for many agencies or new women there is ramp up time before you get business depending upon where you live and your market conditions. If your an independent and the new girl on the block everyone will come running to you, especially ALL the PREDATORS  the other women wont see. Think of it this way, your fresh meat who’s new and doesn’t have a clue.  Many women who start out as independents don’t make it 6 months. Just don’t get lulled by the initial overwhelming interest, it WILL die down and if you haven’t banked that money, you’ll be sorry.

If you apply to an agency ( there are some good ones see our links page) read their website, take the time to see what they are all about. How an agency markets you is different than how an independent handles herself. Some agencies it’s all about the money, others it’s all about the “art” of what we do. If you’re the kind of women who only cares about the money, stay away from agencies who care about “the craft” of Escorting. I will tell you now, it won’t be a good fit. Also under the current economic climate it can take up to a month before you get your first call, is some places. There are a lot of women jumping into this business and it may take time to get noticed. In cases such as this, go with agencies who do long term marketing, in the end you’ll be better off.  A little secret about who has a competitive edge. Those who are REALLY open minded when it comes to various acts. Women who knew in their youth  this what they always wanted to do.  Ladies who are natural born pleasers and you get off on giving pleasure.

Finally, please remember something very important. Just because men show interest in you in a bar, club or on the street doesn’t mean you’re marketable as an escort. This is a whole other playing field and personality profile type when it comes to men. The latter want you for “free” but watch what happens the moment you tell them, cash up front. Go a head try it. Prove me wrong, I dare you… I double dog dare you.

When I started working as a private companion/female escort less than a year ago, I had so many misconceptions about the “world of escorting”. Most of what I thought or should I say thought I knew to be true is what society has coined to be true of the world and I like so many people everywhere believed to be true. Believed it to be the gospel so to speak.

The images that society paints and the moral standards that are implied is that it’s wrong, indecent, humiliating to women, degrading…. only the lowest of women would sell themselves etc….etc…..etc….. Not to mention the “classification” or should I say DE-classification of women socially, morally, physically, emotionally and spiritually by

society of the ladies that escort.

I find it rather amusing, especially now, how society takes it upon itself to judge the women, the men,

the agency owners and the clients of this profession. I could write on that as a separate entity but for today I would just like to share with anyone who is reading my journey into the world of escorting and the many wonderful people I have met a long the way so far. Also, how it has helped me grow as a person…. maybe it will give you insight into a world that is not what it is painted to be, well not at least the part of the planet that I am in…. perhaps it may change your perspectives, beliefs on the escorting world.

First let me tell you about me, I am female, a mother and a college graduate. I have a Master’s degree in a healthcare profession and hold a full time job in the community in which I live. I am also a member of my local denominational church and grew up in my faith from birth. Oh! And I appreciate and listen to classical music… as I write this I am listening to Andrea Bocelli and it still gives me chills. To look at me I am just as normal as you, your sister, your aunt, your best friend, your child’s teacher, your doctor, the receptionist you see everyday or any other female you know and consider the norm. Do I look like an escort?

Well now, that is a good question because that too, is another topic for a separate entry.

Because it flows with the stereotypical image of this world that has been painted by society. Most of the time, escorts are portrayed as streetwalkers. The typical picture is that of the mini-skirt clad, high heeled babe leaning over the window of a car on the street. And in turn follows the typical judgment of drug abuse and alcohol, perhaps homelessness and the “pimp” that abuses them. Now, I know this part of the world does exist and it saddens me…I saw the special that Diane Sawyer did on 20/20 a few weeks ago and I have to be honest… I was devastated by the news footage and my hearts went out to those women. Another entry as I said.

Real quick though: Do I look like that? NO….do I judge those women? Absolutely not. And NOONE should….my favorite quote and how I live my life is according to the quote– “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone….”

I would be the LAST person anyone would think was a professional companion/escort.

And I will let you in on a secret…I love it! It is the most self-rewarding and fulfilling job I have had…well next to being a Mom, of course! I like to think of escorting as a craft, a hobby, an art that is perfected each and every time I meet with someone!

And this brings me to the fun part…. the rewards of my “hobby” let’s call it and why it is so rewarding…the why is made up of two parts:

One part: my growth and me

And part two: the agency that I work for, the man that owns the agency and the clientele that it services.

The agency I work for has become a guiding light for me and for the women that work there. I have grown more personally and spiritually in the time working for Dreams than I have in my lifetime.

I have met men and women that have contributed to my growth in ways I could have only imagined. How? You ask.

Well you see there is a misconception out there that people use this service for one thing and that is SO NOT TRUE!

Let’s put one to bed right now (sorry bad use of words…. wink) but the “attached client”. I have spent intimate time just listening to many gentlemen talk about their lives and provided them with an outlet to just talk…I know, I know men, talk, in the same sentence?….LOL but yes talk! And do they ever…..and I Love IT! Why? Because they need it and it makes me feel good that I can be there for them. They talk about things that their significant other has probably heard a thousand times but to them it is reminiscent of their younger days and yes…less complicated times. And I respond naturally just like their women did the first times they heard it! But for them it’s all about the thrill! The thrill of having some attention!

Let’s face it Ladies we are all guilty of being wrapped to tight with life’s string of stressors and for us it isn’t easy to put the sink full of dishes, the pile of bills, the dentist appointment Sally has next week, what we are baking for the PTO event etc, etc, etc….out of our minds for an hour yet alone spend some time with our men without staring at the ceiling wandering …..”Shoot Did I remember to call the phone company and make that late payment?” and …. How many times has it even slipped out of our mouths? Or you have been caught staring into space and accused of not even being there….. Heck, I have heard men say the whole house has to be clean not just the dishes and the moon and stars have to be aligned just right. Ah well, I am guilty of that one in the past…not anymore as I said I am growing past a lot of my personal bs. But now men they can nine out of ten times put just about anything out of their minds to get down to business with their woman! And enjoy themselves and hours later wander what they were stressed out about…..lol.

A lot of times men need another person to vent to that isn’t their significant other, this doesn’t say that I (we) replace or can even remotely try nor want to try to replace a significant other, it just means that in the busy lives we all are guilty of today, men would rather spend their time with a significant other serving other purposes than rehashing their work week or other stresses.

Most of the men I have met (with the exception of one and well he was just to hung up on his “personal” materials to tear him away from his ego…smile) have been just the sweetest most adoring men you’d ever want to meet. Just normal guys needing an escape, a warm body or a woman to make them feel like they hung the moon even if for an hour or two! Personal attention that is what it is all about.

And I have to say I have more respect for these guys than I do for the guys that lie and cheat on their significant others by having intimate long drawn out emotional affairs. Think about it? This is not personal for either the associate or the client, it is a service and that is it! Just like when you go get your car tuned up or you get a haircut, your nails manicured or your suit dry-cleaned.

The clients of the agency I work for are men and women of middle to upper class. They are respectable, professional and well-mannered just generally very nice people. I have met accountants, bankers, salespeople, clergymen, lawyers, doctors, construction workers, retail workers, teachers and I can tell you they are just normal everyday people.

You would never know they are “escort see-ers”.

My rewards have been so many and so I set up this blog to discuss the rewards, the agency, the owner and the clientele and let you see into the beautiful world of what I do!

A call girl or escort is a sex worker who (unlike a street walker) is not visible to the general public. Nor does she usually belong to an institution like a brothel. One must make reservations to see her, usually by calling a telephone number — hence the term “call girl”. Often, escorts advertise their services in small ads in magazines and through the internet, although an intermediary advertiser such as an escort agency when   promoting higher class escorts.

There are two different types of Escorts:

Independents Escorts and Escorts that work for an Escort Agency. Escort can work either incall, where the client comes to them, or outcall, where they come to the client. Escorts are commonly perceived to be elite amongst sexworkers, far more skilled, able to pick and choose amongst their potential clients and therefore demand higher prices for their services, and are more attractive, educated, well-groomed and youthful than street level. An escort service will not take on any woman who is unattractive, has a visible drug problem (such as needle marks from injecting drugs), or who presents an overly negative personality. Also, many escort agencies do criminal background checks on applicants to weed out those that have been arrested for street prostitution or other types of crimes.

The hierarchy of this industry in general is as follows:(applies to the USA)

• High End Escort (Agency & Independent) - Least amount of risk highest return
• General web Escort (Agency & Independent)
• Yellow Pages based Escort Agency
• Bar or Club
• Truck Stop or Lot
• Street
• Crack Ho - Maximum amount of risk

Independents:

An independent is an Escort who works for herself. Some people like it this way and you don’t have to pay a service fee to an Agency to be allowed to service their clients. However, you are then responsible for your own marketing, screening, security and daily operational tasks.

In some cases depending on many factors and markets there are independents who make far less than Agency women. After all, time is money and every hour you spend getting that appointment is a cost.If you have only 4 calls in a week each being an hour and you spent 3 hours of work for every hour appointment that time must be factored in. Working for yourself is great, however your statistical risk of getting hurt is greater since you don’t have an agency driver or organization to back you. This is why many predatoral personalities choose only to see independents.

Agencies:

Not all agencies are created equal. Some agencies are well run and thoroughly screen their clients. Other agencies don’t and are poorly run. Among many myths the biggest one is women run agencies are he best to work for, this is completely untrue.

If you go the Agency route, know now the clients belong to the agency not to you. The Agency spends it’s time and resources acquiring, screening and maintaining clients all you do is show up. Overall if you are starting out in this business find a reputable agency to work with as opposed to going independent from the start. Agency splits run anywhere from 50 -50% to 60%-40, you get the 60. Just remember, the client belongs to the agency not the other way around and some agency owners will not take it lightly (harsh consequences) if you try and see their clients on your own. This of course is dishonest and stealing.

If you love sex and feel this is a calling for you. Meaning you love to please men or women for that matter then this could be an excellent career choice. As I have learned the best Escorts crave it in there soul and almost need it. Most of us stay in this business because of the money and the variety it gives us.

So now what do you say ?
If I had it do do over again would I be an escort ?
Yes, only I would have started sooner.

That’s a problem! Why?

For many reasons.

1. Doing this only devalues  the product /service that you are offering and what is the service you are offering…YOU! That’s right.  You are selling yourself (excuse the pun) short.  And what? Afterwords…you are going to demand your value back? Yea right! What client is going to pay more when he/she has had it at it’s cheapest value?  You can forget ever going back to your customary pricing or standards by which you had hoped you built for yourself.
2. The clients you are attracting are going to change.  If you preferred a better standard of client that respected you and took you and your “business” seriously those days will be over.  The clients you attract now will be expecting more for less and if you dropped your prices once what’s to stop you from going even lower….they know you are desperate now.
   
3. The ripple effects from this practice will not only negatively impact you now but will carry over into the future for you and the industry.  You will fall into a category or social level that you don’t want to be in and your reputation will precede you for years to come.
4. Health risks!!  Need I say more?  I hope not.  The health risks associated with doing things you would not normally do are astronomical.  Don’t do it. It’s not worth it!

Another “not so smart” practice going on out there these days is accepting anything other than cash as payment.  This is not safe and carries it’s own set of risks that you don’t even want to think about.  Don’t go there!  Having clients pay your bills, pay by check,  run to the ATM afterward, or any of the other excuses other than CASH UP FRONT is just plain STUPID!

Let’s get something straight, women run agencies can be just as sleazy, negative and unsafe as any other. If you’re going to do this, whatever you do, don’t buy into the myth of sisterhood in this business. Men are simple, predictable, direct and honest about what they want. Women, we back stab while calling you “girlfriend” and giving you a hug. Just ask any one who’s spent four years living in a sorority house.

If you’re going to work with an agency man run or woman run one of the issues that will come up is should I “audition” or not “audition” ?

What’s an audition ?

It’s a test drive more commonly known as screwing the boss to show her or him what you can do.

For most of us our first reaction is Eeeewuuuu sleazy !

Yet as with all things there are two sides to this.

Side one:

I shouldn’t have to sleep with the boss to get the job. It’s degrading and it makes me look bad in their eyes. What kind of person would they think I am if I did ?  Isn’t it said you don’t mix business and pleasure anyway ? After all I’m not some cheap….. well you fill in the blank.

Does that sound familiar ? I’m sure many of you would see it this way I know I did. Of course at the same time I was in total denial about the kind of business I was applying to and technically if i was hired what that would make me.

Side two:

Assuming the Agency owner is a honestly nice person, it’s just good  business. Yes, there are Agency owners who do it because they  like screwing everything that walks though the door.  In my experience the women agency owners are just as bad if not worse than many of the men. However removing all that, here is the logic behind it.

A really good agency owner who understands marketing and is honest wont lie or deceive his/ her clients. This means, if they don’t truly know  what your true skills are they can’t effectively market you. This is why Suzy over there, who’s fucking the boss or Boss lady at the drop of a hat is getting three times as many  calls as you. Oh did I tell you she’s only half as hot as you are ?

Get over yourself it’s not “just because she’s a slut” here is the REAL REASON she’s more successful than you.

Men shop differently than us and they value the principle of “the test drive”. Here’s how this works.

Take three guys, Tom, Dick and Harry. Tom is looking at a new model car he likes so he asks Harry how well does that car handle ? Harry tells him “well from what I’ve read it’s good”.  However when he asks Dick, he gets a different story. Dick says “the car is ok, but if you want a car that will be tight in the turns and fast to the fun for your money, then this is not what you want”. So who does Tom believe ? In the  world of men, he’ll go with Dick.

Why ?

Because Dick has actually test driven the car where as Harry only read about it.

Get it ?

The reason Suzy will get more calls is because clients ask, “how is she at ‘this’ or ‘that’ or ‘overall’” ? Well the Agency owner “knows” this information first hand and can relate that. Whereas with you she / he doesn’t actually know and make NO mistake CLIENTS CAN TELL sense this on the phone.

This is the real driving force behind her success and a powerful argument why it is probably in your best interest, as Tracy an agency owner puts it, “to offer it up” and don’t wait to be asked.

Think about, in many respects to NOT audition in this business is asking the Agency to put a product they know nothing about on the shelf and sell it. If you owned a business and completely unknown sales person walk in to your store and asked you to put their product on your shelf but they had no history, no pamphlets and wouldn’t let you sample, would you ?

Knowing what I know now about this business and if I had it to do over again I personally wouldn’t have been so high and mighty starting out. In seeing only my side of the issue cost me a lot of calls, experience, money and opportunities.

Now you have the benefit of my experience and you can now make an informed choice.

What comes to mind when you think of an escort agency owner? Do you picture the velvet suit clad Cadillac driving chain wearing man hanging out on the corner directing the tricks? Or do you picture what you saw in some movie or documentary? There was actually a documentary on cable running a few months ago that followed and chronicled the daily lives of several “pimps”, well they referred to themselves as agency owners.

Again, so NOT!! the style or social class I am working in or for….this documentary showed the lifestyle of streetwalkers and how they make money for the pimp they work for, the man sends them out to the street corners with their instructions for the evening.

Ok, I know I come from a different world but this is really sad that this is going on out there. Now after watching that, I understand the purpose and the “why” behind the amazing man that I have grown to admire and respect over the past year.

These girls work under conditions so unsafe and scary that I just cringed watching them.

I feel so blessed and so honored that I am in a secure environment with policies and procedures and screening that protect not only me but the clients as well.

The Man that I work with and I say with because he makes it clear from the beginning that we are all a part of a family style business is an honorable gentlemen who’s mission is to provide a needed service in the most secure and safest environment possible for his associates and clients. His philosophy is that if he doesn’t make it happen in a positive way then it will have more avenues to occur in negative ways. Let’s face the truth here: women will always be drawn to this profession and men will always need this service.

This Man will go out of his way to take care of “us” in ways that you would see a “big brother” or even a “father-like” figure. Sometimes, he takes better care of us than our own families. I know he has been there for me whenever I asked him to be and for the other girls. He has done things for me like help my son with his science project.

Safety and confidentiality always come first to him for both the associates and the clients!

The agency uses a screening process that ensures the clients will be adequately taken care of, their needs met and their identities secure. The screening process also provides security and safety for us!

The point: What am I really trying to say or convey in this blog?

That there is a safe way to work as a high class or even a middle class adult escort/companion and enjoy the benefits of a rewarding job! How? By working with/for an agency owner like the one I work for….don’t settle for anything else, ladies….there is an alternative to the low class way of life that you see on the streets.

And for the clients? Why would you settle for anything less than a professional service that has your best interests and your security, safety and basically preserving your life as it’s number one priority?
